Moving to Balsas

“When I come to you, I did not come with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified. I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power. So that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power”
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 NIV

Last night, we said goodbye to our friends and mentors in Loja, Ecuador as we are moving to our new home in Balsas, Ecuador. There are currently no Evangelical churches in this area. We will be the only gringos. We will also be the  only ones who speak English. Therefore our ministry will not come from eloquence or human wisdom or even with persuasive words because we do not know how to translate those words in Spanish. So we will be relying on the Spirit’s power to translate for us.

We understand that the next 8 months will be difficult and challenging at times and our passion for moving here will be challenged regularly. However, we look forward to these battles knowing that the war has already been won. We look forward to growing closer with God and as a family through these tough times while our new neighbors will get the opportunity to have a personal relationship with God.

Our prayer needs:
Our prayer is that our hearts and intentions are clean and glorifying to God in everything that we do even through our tough times.

We also pray for the people in our new community and that God is working on their hearts and preparing them to receive the Good News.

We also pray for your hearts, desires, and purposes. We pray that God continues to reveal to you what is means to be a Christian, what is means to take up your cross and surrender daily, and what is means to follow Christ.
